The Time it Takes to Make Your Own Engagement Ring
This workshop is a single-day event. The total time to complete this workshop will vary based on design. However, you should plan to spend approximately 4 to 6 hours in the workshop. This will be a fun, action-packed day with step-by-step coaching on several different hands-on activities and processes. It is for this reason that the ring designs are kept simple and straightforward.
Classic solitaire rings will be completed by the end of the workshop. In the end, you can take the ring home that day in a ring box ready for a proposal. If any additional work is required, such as extra stone setting, you will leave the ring for post-workshop service and we’ll finish it out with the final touches.
To be clear, this is NOT a design your own ring app, or some other online platform where you order it and get it shipped to you. This is a live event you attend in a jewelry studio and use actual tools and jewelry making equipment to make your own engagement ring like this guy…
Materials Matter When Building an Engagement Ring
When making your own engagement ring in our DIY Workshop, you can customize it with a combination of materials. First choose your ring’s color from white, yellow, or rose gold. In some instances, a combination of colors is used to make two-toned or bichromatic engagement rings. You will further customize your engagement ring’s materials by choosing the metal type. Pick from 18K, 14K, or Platinum. All of the metals used are sourced from an SCS-certified 100% recycled supply. This ensures ethical sourcing and environmental sustainability in your wedding jewelry.
One of the most exciting steps in the make your own engagement ring process will be for you to choose a center stone and the mount for your center stone. Although diamonds are the most traditional center stone choice, in an al’ cart workshop you can set any type of stone you like, such as a sapphire or ruby. We offer a large selection of stones including GIA-certified, conflict-free diamonds, lab-grown diamonds, Moissanite, and other precious gemstones for you to choose from.
Are you unsure what size, type, or quality stone to use? We can help you find exactly what you are looking for. As part of our unique service, you get access to one of the largest diamond suppliers in the United States. Certified diamonds will be laser inscribed with a report number. This unique identification number can then be cross-referenced and validated by the laboratory grading report. For this reason, you can buy with trust and confidence!
Using only the best materials helps ensure lifelong durability. However, the fact is a fine piece of jewelry will eventually require service and accidents can damage the ring. For this reason, a Lifetime protection plan is offered on all engagement rings. Your engagement ring will include lifetime sizing and repair with this protection plan.
There are many ways to make a classic-style engagement ring unique without creating a complicated design. The use of two-tone metals, such as yellow gold and platinum, can create a nice combination of color and contrast. In this DIY process, you are coached on classic fabrication techniques and they are kept straightforward to make it easy for anyone to accomplish.
A texturing technique is one example of a technique that can be done by anyone to create unique customization when making your engagement ring. Applying a choice of texture and finish can create a unique element to a classic-style engagement ring. Adding engraving inside of the ring is also another great way for you to customize your ring. Adding special terms of endearment, dates or initials is great to engrave inside the ring. There are limitations to engraving inside such as the 2mm width of the ring. Character limits vary based on finger size but usually average 15-20 characters.
