Which wedding ring is right for you?

Making your own wedding rings is simpler than most couples expect — and it’s the one part of the wedding you’ll actually wear every day. In a make-your-own wedding ring workshop with LaProng, you work one-on-one with your jeweler in the Carrollton studio, serving all of Dallas–Fort Worth, and everything you need is provided. No experience, no tools, and nothing to bring — just the two of you. Most couples finish in about 4–6 hours, plain bands go home the same day, and sets start at $695.

Every ring in the gallery below started as a flat strip of metal. What makes each one different comes down to five choices — the profile (its shape), the width, the finish, the metal, and whether you add diamonds. The gallery shows what’s possible; the guide beneath it breaks down each choice so you can picture your own rings before you ever pick up a hammer.

1. Choose your band profile

  • Flat — clean, modern and architectural; sits flush on the finger and pairs beautifully with textured finishes.
  • Court / comfort-fit — gently rounded inside and out, the most comfortable for everyday wear and the most popular choice.
  • Concave — a soft inward curve across the top that catches light along two edges; striking in high-polish or bead-blast.
  • Knife-edge — a crisp ridge down the center for a sharp, contemporary look, lovely polished or blasted.

2. Pick a width

Most bands you make land between 2.5mm and 4mm. Slimmer widths (2.5–3mm) feel delicate and understated; wider bands (3.5–4mm) make more of a statement and give textured finishes more room to show. Many couples mix widths — a slimmer band for one of you, a wider one for the other — so each ring suits the hand that wears it.

3. Choose a finish or texture

The finish is where your ring stops looking like everyone else’s. In the workshop you can try finishes on scrap metal first, then commit to the one you love:

  • High-polish — the classic mirror shine.
  • Matte & satin — a soft, brushed glow that hides everyday wear.
  • Hammered — hand-peened dimples that scatter the light; no two are ever identical.
  • Florentine — a fine cross-hatch engraving with a warm, vintage texture (lovely in comfort-fit).
  • Bead-blast & “ice” — a frosted, stone-like surface with a modern, matte sparkle.

You can also combine finishes — a polished edge around a hammered center, for example — for a look that’s genuinely one of a kind.

4. Select your metal

Choose the metal that fits your style and your budget. Every color below can be made in any of the profiles and finishes above:

  • Sterling silver — the entry point; the Silver Create Your Own Ring set lets both of you make a ring from $695.
  • 14K white, yellow & rose gold — the most-loved wedding metals; rose reads warm and romantic, white cool and classic, yellow timeless.
  • 18K royal yellow gold — a richer, deeper gold for an heirloom feel.
  • Platinum — the most durable and naturally white, made for a ring that lasts generations.

Gold and platinum are upgrades on the same workshop, so you can start with a style you love and choose the metal that’s right for you. See every option on the wedding ring workshop packages page.

5. Add diamonds or accents (optional)

Want a little sparkle? The studio supplies the stones, and you can set them into your band in several ways — a single flush-set stone, a row of French-set or accented diamonds, or a classic plain band kept simple. One note: plain and single-stone bands go home the same day; if your design has accent or multiple stones, the setting is completed after your workshop and your finished ring reaches you shortly after.

Make them for each other

The best part isn’t the metal — it’s that each of you makes a ring for the other, hand-forged by you and coached one-on-one by your jeweler. With 1,200+ rings made, LaProng is the only make-your-own wedding ring workshop in Dallas–Fort Worth, rated ★★★★★ across 63 reviews, and a WeddingWire Couples’ Choice Award winner, Hall of Fame & The Knot’s Best of Weddings. Every workshop includes materials, a 100% satisfaction guarantee and a lifetime care plan.
